What's the company besides the name?

We are a food tech start-up created in 2018, driven by a team of 33 ultra-talented people working on creating fully autonomous cooking robots and managing revolutionary restaurants.

Same sentence, but shorter: we are making cool robots and selling great food.

What’s the history of Cala?

Cala has existed since 2018, and we opened our first restaurant in 2020.

At first, it was a student project between our two co-founders Julien and Ylan, who were both engineering students, and created a pasta-cooking robot.

Seeing the opportunity together, they decided to quit their studies and start the company and the restaurants that we have today.

Soon after came Nicolas, who joined them as the third co-founder to work on marketing and business development.

And the rest is history…

Why even do all this?

Our mission is to make high-quality food more accessible. The fast-food industry has done everything to reduce its food costs to cope with increasing real-estate and labor costs.
